They won it with grit, heart, and most of all, teamwork.

As impressive a display of all of the above as I have ever seen.

The Golden State Warriors are the new NBA Champions, the 2014-15 season has come to a close…

…and everything has now changed.

Before, they said you couldn’t win an NBA Championship with a point guard driven team emphasizing shooting and the perimeter.

Well, that’s exactly what just happened.

There is now a bona fide counter punch for the team unable to draft a prized big man. There is now a proven alternative strategy to make it to the Finals, and win.

One superstar isn’t nearly as valuable as five reliable role players.

We have been so used to the mega franchises in the NBA commandeering championships in recent years that we’ve almost forgotten the “little guy” can sometimes take the big prize. With a collective bargaining agreement that has financially leveled the playing field, with smaller markets now proving to be even more desirable destinations for marquee players, and with a much broader style of play that can contribute to success, the NBA has just now become anybody’s game.

The next few years are going to be highly competitive, with fewer dynasties, and yet, greater opportunities for any one team.

Who’s going to be next to rewrite history?

For now…

WARR-IORS!
