The teaser doesn’t show any actual footage, but promises “new crews, new villains, new heroes, new worlds.”

Personally, I’m just happy for “new Star Trek” no matter what it is.

With Brian Fuller as executive producer/show runner, Alex Kurtzman as executive producer, and Nicholas Meyer as writer and consulting producer, CBS has put together a veteran pedigree of Star Trek talent.

Clearly, this is going to be an entirely unique concept in the Trek universe.

“New crews” has me particularly intrigued.

Are we deviating from the traditional “one starship exploring the galaxy” concept?

Star Trek has always been at its best when it combines space and scientific exploration, heartfelt human character development, and starship battles.

The Original Series was the best at space and scientific exploration. Star Trek: The Next Generation had the heartfelt human character development down. And the original series films, specifically Meyer’s Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan and Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country delivered the nautical-inspired starship battles that fans love.

I’m hoping the new show combines all three, perhaps literally combining all three generations, into one show. Wouldn’t that be something?

Maybe I’ll slingshot around the sun to enter a time warp, save a whale or two, and check out the new show in the future. It really is the only the logical way to see footage right now.[/vc_column_text][vc_widget_sidebar sidebar_id=”hb-custom-sidebar-signature”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
