Cars Land will have some new friends to meet on March 7 when its newest attraction, Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters, opens to the public.

A modern take on a classic spinner ride, Disney is bringing a trackless ride system concept, similarly utilized on Pooh’s Hunny Hunt and Aquatopia at the Tokyo Disneyland Resort, to Southern California. The idea is that your vehicle twists and turns and moves using a modern infrared technology rather than a track, allowing for a more spontaneous and unpredictable experience.

The Rollickin’ Roadsters are a perfect way to showcase this new ride system.

As described on Disney Parks Blog:

Cars Land guests will be able to ride along with Luigi’s cousins as they move and spin to upbeat Italian music, performing the traditional dances of their hometown village. Each dancing car will have its own high-spirited personality and signature dance moves – making every ride unpredictable, as you won’t know which way they will turn and spin next!

The family-friendly experience looks hilarious and entertaining.

Built as a replacement for Luigi’s Flying Tires, which opened with Cars Land in 2012, and never really worked very well, the Rollickin’ Roadsters looks like a big improvement, and should re-infuse this part of the land with a lot of new energy.
