Disney Park Blog is reporting that “Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bay” will be opening at Downtown Disney in Orlando, FL. The lounge is named after Indy’s co-pilot at the beginning of Raiders of the Lost Ark, you know, the one who was too busy fishing while Jones was being chased by spear-wielding local Hovito natives.

The lounge will appropriately, “…feature unique cocktails, such as the “Hovito Mojito” and “Rolling Boulder Meatballs.”

The article mentions an emphasis on the aviation-theme of the lounge, with winks and nods to Indiana Jones.

It looks awesome. This is a place I’d want to hang out in.

My only question…

Why does the newly opened Grizzly Peak Airfield at Disney California Adventure not feature this???

The aviation theme works perfectly as a tether to Soarin’ over California, and this is a way more interesting experience than the Taste Pilot’s Grill makeover into “Smokejumpers Grill.” Smokejumpers is a nice upgrade from what was there before, but the food offerings are basically the same.

There’s a nice new area of shaded outdoor seating, but is Smokejumpers really a place to hang out at?

As these theme parks continue to get more and more crowded, I think Disney should always have an eye, with everything they open, to what can help soak up the guests for longer periods. With Smokejumpers, I’ll get in quick, grab a burger, sit at a table, and move on to a ride.

With Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bay, I may hang out for an extra half an hour to enjoy the atmosphere away from the long lines.

If the awesomely themed Trader Sam’s Tiki Bar was inside California Adventure, I may never get on a ride all day.

I love the Grizzly Peak Airfield upgrade. I’m just spoiled and I want Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bay to hang out at after riding Soarin’
